The geological lineament pattern on the island of Hinnøya, Vesterålen archipelago in Norway, was studied by means of remote sensing techniques. One quarterscene of Landsat TM covering 90 km x 90 km with a spatial resolution of 30 m, registered 900720, was used to extract these structural features.
Lineament patterns in the coast-region from Lofoten to Loppa, is investigated. Exposure of fault-rocks show a variety of modes of deformation from ductile to brittle.Relative movements are indicated in some places, showing small strike-slip components and large vertical components. The area represents an elevated substratum for post-Caledonian basin-sediments.

An integrated study of geophysical data from the offshore and onshore areas of northern Norway between 67° and 71°N was carried out as a collaboration project between Elf Petroleum, Norsk Hydro, The Norwegian Petroleum Direc- torate, Statoil and the Geological survey of Norway. The interpretation of aeromagnetic, gravimetric and petrophysical data was integrated with mapping and palaeomagnetic dating of post-Caledonian faults on land.
28 samples of groundwater from bedrock boreholes in three distinct Norwegian geological provinces have been taken and analysed for content of 222Rn, U and Th, together with a wide variety of minor and major species. Results are documented in NGU reports 93.121 and 93.126. This resport documents the locations and further details of the sampling points.

Helicopter radiometric data collected over parts of Nord-Trøndelag between 1988 and 1991 have been reprocessed to produce maps of 137Cs fallout resulting from the reactor accident in Chernobyl. Backcalculated data indicate that some parts of Nord-Trøndelag received 137Cs levels in 1986 were one sixth of levels publi- shed for certain areas in the 30 mile exclusion zone around Chernobyl. Four maps at 1:100.000 scale have been produced.
The Geological Survey of Norway (NGU) have assessed the possibilities for use of saline groundwater in fish-farming and research, through a research project at the aquaculture research institute AKVAFORSK at Sunndalsøra. From the data collected during the study, the following conclusions can be drawn: -Salt groundwater appears to have a high and stable mineralogical (inorganic chemical) quality, which is well suited to use in aquaculture. Its stable temperature is another positive factor.
