Summary
The Vaddasgaisak Metagabbro is an internally deformed and recrystallized gabbroic intrusion. Layered and non-layered zones, zones of different grainsize, and zones with and without olivine have been mapped. The western margin shows intrusive relationships with Ankerlia Metagreywacke. The eastern contact against Loftani Greenstone, is very schistose, but is probably not a regional-scale thrust.Basic dykes have intruded the Metagabbro and Metagreywacke, and small felsic intrusives both of anatectic origin and possible differentiates from the gabbro, are present.The gabbro, dykes and greenstones are oceanic tholeiites. The greenstones were extruded on shallow shelf sediments. The gabbro and dykes intruded greywacke possibly composed of island arc detritus.
