SPA-88 Spitsbergen Aeromagnetics Interpretation Report

An interpretation of aeromagnetic data acquired by NGU and Geco from Spitsbergen is reported. Considering the location of the area within the auroral belt, the data is generally of good quality. An aeromagnetic map covering Spitsbergen and the adjacent Barents Sea has been compiled. It shows that structures on Spitsbergen continue far into the Barent Sea, demonstrating the importance of knowledge from Svalbard for understanding the geology of the Barents Sea area.
