The Ramså Basin in the northeast of the island of Andøya combines both a Mesozoic sedimentary succession and a subjacent deeply weathered basement. The basin must be considered as the only easily accessible analogue for the setting and development of the offshore Mesozoic basins.
The report gives a history of the discovery and exploration of the Råna layered mafic/ultramafic intrusion in Nordland county, with particular emphasis on the Bruvann Ni-Cu-Co mineralisation, in the NW part of the intrusion, which consists predominantly of disseminated sulphides in layers of peridotite. The tonnage and grade were calculated in 1975 to be 43.6 Mt grading 0.33% sulphide-bound Ni, 0.08% Cu and 0.015% Co (cut-off 0.15% sulphide-bound Ni).
Geological and ore dressing investigations of graphite occurrences in Bø, Sortland, Hadsel and Øksnes municipalities, Vesterålen, Nordland County, Northern Norway 2015-2016.
This report describes 21 graphite occurrences in the Lofoten-Vesterålen area, including reviews of previous graphite investigations, the geological setting and analytical data related to analyses of graphite in the described occurrences. The graphite occurrences are situated in high-grad Archaean metamorphic rocks comprising quartzites, intermediate and mafic gneisses, iron formations, dolomites and graphite schist.
Geophysical investigations of graphite occurrences in Bø and Øksnes municipalities, Vesterålen, Nordland County, Northern Norway 2015-2016
Geological and geophysical investigations in Vesterålen were carried out during 2015 and 2016 with additional funds from the Nordland County Administration. A first report (Gautneb, et al., 2017) emphasizes the geological aspects of the graphite prospecting (trenching, sampling, analyses, mineralogy and beneficiation tests). This report describes the results from ground geophysical mapping of graphite mineralisations at five locations in the Vesterålen area.
