Summary
Forkortet: The sedimentary sequence in the subsurface of the Trøndelag Platform (Mid-Norway) has been assessed with regard to its suitability for long-term storage of CO2. This study is part of the EU-funded CO2STORE project and was stimulated by the geopgraphical proximity of the Trøndelag Platform to planned CO2 point sources in Mid Norway.

Summary
The sedimentary successions in the Beitstadfjord Basin, the Frohavet Baisn and in the subsurface of the Froan Basin area of the Trøndelag Platform (Mid-Norway) have been assessed with regard to their suitability for long-term storage of CO2. All three cases constitute open, dipping traps with only a very thin or absent cover of Quaternary sediments at their subcrop. CO2 is in all three cases predicted to rise from the injection well's perforation roughly vertically within the storage formation and then to migrate updip below the top seal towards the formation's subcrop or outcrop at the seafloor. Local traps reached on the migration pathway, such as domes, anticlines, or sealed fault compartments, will cause some trapping. The suitability for CO2 storage for the three cases depends largely on available pore volumes and distances between injection points and subcrop.

Summary
The ultimate objective of this project is to contribute directly to establishing necessary confidence that the CO2 in specific geological storage sites will be effectively retained for a time scale of thousands of years. This project will address the specific needs of 3rd party independent verification of geologic storage sites.
This document focuses on Sub Project 1 (SP1): Focused procedures for evaluation of the leak potential of discrete leak paths.
Tasks in Work package 1.1: Compilation of estimation procedures for discrete leak paths: Literature review, Develop calculation procedures.
The emphasis will be on the ability to map and describe discrete leakage paths before they can be represented in integrated simulation models.
This document aims to describe in detail the procedures to be applied by a verifier of a potential CO2 geologic storage site as related to identifying all discrete leakage pathways, including all relevant faults, fractures, thief zones and wellbores, as well as their key characteristics, in order to judge to which extent that these might compromise the storage containment requirements of the site.

Summary
Young Trondhjemites 2017 is the second edition of a conference for young researchers working with geosciences and engineering in Trondheim. The conference was held the 2nd of June at the Geological Survey of Norway (NGU) and at brought together people from NTNU, NGU and other geoscientific institutions. Students working on a master, on a PhD, or recently graduated had the opportunity to present their work as a talk or as a poster. 14 contributions were presented as 8 minutes presentations and 11 as poster. The abstracts of the contributions are presented here in the programme order. In total, around 60 persons participated in the conference. After the presentations, 4 workshops have been held and were an opportunity for the participants to deepen their knowledge on how to write an article, how to hold a presentation, how to prepare a poster and how to work with photogrammetry. The conference has been organized thanks to the support of the Department of Geoscience-and Petroleum (NTNU) and the Geological Survey of Norway (NGU).
