The structural geology of the Vestertana - Smalfjord - Tanafjord area was studied. A week, possible early cleavage (S1) has been found only in the tillite sequences of the Vestertana Group; this is thought to be "bedding" parallel and is thus not observable in the bedded lithologies of the area. D2 produce a fabric penetrative in pelitic rocks (S2) and a high angle fracture cleavage in quartzo-feldspathic rocks.
This report describes results from structural investigations undertaken in Pasvik in l996. The Early Proterozoic rocks of the Pasvik (Petsamo) and Kobbefoss Groups, and Archaean gneisses were deformed during three ductile to semiductile stages, designated D1, D2 and D3. Typical structures such as foliation, cleavage, lineations and folds support the structural sub- division, and place constraints on the structural position of the Gjedde Lake gold occurrence.

This report presents preliminary results of regional fieldwork in the Okstind- ene Area, the Rödingfjäll Nappe Complex (RNC), Uppermost Allochthon, Nordland, Norway. The area hosts the Bleikvassli sedimentary-exhalative Pb-Zn deposit, and the main objective with this work is to establish a geological basis for prospecting after new Pb-Zn deposits in the area. The area comprises four lithological units; the Kjerringfjellet(?), Anders Larsa/Lifjell and Kongs- fjell Groups and the Målvatn Unit.

This report documents the petrography of a limited sample set consisting of 12 specimens from the Fen complex, Telemark, South Norway. The samples comprise several, texturally variable calciocarbonatites (søvite), one Fe-rich carbonatite (rauhaugite), two magnetite-rich rødbergites, a silico-carbonate rock ("vipetoite") and a lamprophyre termed damtjernite.
A dolerite dyke cutting very low-grade metasandstones of the Løkvikfjellet group near Hamningsberg, NE Varanger Peninsula, has yielded a U-Pb zircon age (upper intercept) of 554+20/-14 Ma; and a lower intercept of c.375 Ma. This dyke is one of several in this area that have previously given K-Ar dates of c.360 Ma.

Magnetic data collected near the earth's magnetic equator is more difficult to interpret than high latitude magnetic data because tha magnetic field intensity at the equator is smaller and because the ambient inducing field direction is horizontal. The low field strength procedures correspondingly smaller anomalies, and the shallow field inclination produces several complications.
A helicopterborne geophysical survey was completed in the South Pasvik area near the border with Russia. The primary target formation was the Gjøkvatn Formation which extends into Norway from Russia, and which is known to host nickel mineralization of the Russian side. The survey was commissioned by A/S Sulfidmalm, with liason and supervision carried out by Falconbridge Nickel Mines.

Following a helicopter survey of the slopes along the Sunndalen valley and the surroundings in spring 2007, four sites have been selected for further field studies. Two sites, (Gikling and Ottem), were mapped during summer 2007. GPS points for yearly monitoring were emplaced at Gikling. The volume of the unstable slope may be as much as 100 Mm3. At Ottem, a slope instability of about 2 Mm3 was mapped in detail. Scree deposits comprising large blocks along the slope are also unstable.
Detailed mapping of a syn-orogenic intrusion and the surrounding rocks provides supporting evidence in favour of a recent re-interpretation of the stratigraphy of the Trondheim Nappe Complex (Sturt et.al.1994) The Tron intrusion lies within rocks of the Hummelfjell group. The preservation of folds within recry- stallised hornfels close to the intrusion confirms the presence of an old tectono-metamorphic event in these rocks.

The study is based on over 1000 analysed drill core samples, drilled before 2007, from the Nussir copper deposit in Kvalsund in Finnmark, Northern Norway. The scope of the study was to find any correlations among the metals and eventually any metal zonations. Several conclusions can be drawn from the study of chemical composition of the drill cores.
The aim of the present study was to obtain more data regarding geological relations between the massive sulfide ore and wall rock, especially the microcline gneiss, the genesis of which is a subject of discussion. Another objective was to get more data about the distribution of gold in the ore and wall rocks. The choice of mapping target was influenced both by geological relationships and interests of the mining company.
