Maringeologer har funnet spor etter det som trolig er en rekke miner fra andre verdenskrig i Oslofjorden. Minemerkene ligger ved Langøyene og stammer etter alt å dømme fra en britisk operasjon i september 1944.
Follow-up work has been conducted in three restricted areas of the 1200 km2 large Okstindan Area on the basis of earlier anomalies found during regional surveys. The three areas have been subjected to detailed geophysical mapping, mineralogical studies and sampling for whole-rock geochemistry. Mineralizations in the area consist of non-economic sulfide-impregnations with restricted thickness and extent.

The project has documented the existence of several previously unknown platinum group element (PGE) mineralizations in Norwegian ophiolites, of a type previously not well-documented anywhere, i.e. stratiform platinum- palladium-gold mineralization in ultramafic cumulates in ophiolites. PGE- bearing podiform chromitite and high level Ni-Cu sulphide mineralizations have also been studied.

This report presents preliminary results of detailed geological follow-up studies and diamond drilling carried out in the Okstindan Area, Nordland, Norway in the period July to August 1997. Preliminary results from drilling done in November and December 1997 is included in this report. Field work to the south and at the base of the Okstindan massif along the Kongsfjell / Anders Larsa contact revealed no signs of mineralization.
Result of a helicopter geophysical survey in the Meråker area have been inter- preted with the goal of locating mineralization. A comparison of geophysical data over known mines and showings has determined that mineralization is correlated with 70 ppm or greater EM anomalies in the high frequency channel. Associated magnetic anomalies are either weak (under 25 nT) or non-exists. Results indicate that two zones are favourable for mineralization.
The Norwegian mining and quarring industry had a turnover of approximately NOK 7 billion in 2001 and employed some 5200 workers. It is a major industry in some regions, and the most important counties are Nordland, Møre & Romsdal, Rogaland and Vestfold. The mining and quarring industry comprises companies engaged in extracting and processing minerals and rocks from bedrock or superficial deposits. Five categories of raw materials are distinguished: industrial minerals (e.g.

Two scheelite mineralizations in the Bjellåtind area, Gildeskål, Nordland, were sampled by 8 profiles cut by diamond saw. Total length of the profiles is 28,45 m. The sampled mineralizations, locality 1 and 2, occur in the same area as and in similar tectonostratigraphic position as the previously mined molybdenite deposits Laksådalen and Oterstrand. This report documents the sampling and analytical results. No further treatment or evaluation of the results has been done.

This report gives the results of field work done in the Precambrian Høgtuva window, with minor comments on the other similar windows in Nordland. The aim for this work was to attain a better understanding of the genesis of the rare-element mineralization at Bordvedåga, and thereby provide guidelines for further prospecting for granitophile element deposits.

Follow the trail of NGU’s wide-ranging activities in 2017. We have gathered clues that reveal the connections between Earth’s core, the ocean floor and the planetMars. We also join the hunt for rare minerals, gold and map ancient landslide scars. At the same time, we dis-close how geology can help criminal investigators to solve decades old crimes.
