The report contains an economic geological evaluation of the marble deposits in the Salsbruket area. The key market for the Salsbruket marble is considered to be as a filling and coating pigment in the paper industry, and emphasis is given to this application in considering the viability of each deposit.
The Geological Survey of Norway is in the process of making out an inventory of hard rock aggregate deposits in coastal Norway. This report contains a catalogue of Norwegian coastal quarries at present in production and potential production areas along the coast of southern Norway. 9.1 million tons of aggregates were exported to Europe in 1998 and ca. 1.7 million tons was used in the offshore industry (continental shelf).
Det er gjort gravimetriske målinger langs to profiler i Kongsfjellet - Brunesbekken sørøst for Bleikvassli Gruver. Hensikten vår å se om gravimetriske målinger kunne indikere en større sulfidmalm på stort dyp. Komplisert geologi i måleområdet krever svært nøyaktig modellering for å indikere en slik malm. Modellforsøk med malmer på 10 og 20 mill. tonn (100 m dyp) gir anomalier som trolig er for små til å kunne identifiseres sammen med tyngdefeltet fra den øvrige geologien.
In september, 1998, two helicopter geophysical survey were carried out over parts of Larvik and Porsgrunn municipalities. The purpose of the survey was to provide geophysical information to improve geological mapping in the area. A combined total of 3684 line-kilometres of VLF, radiometric, and magnetometric, and VLF data were collected in June, 1997, in a test area east from Larvik. The 1997 survey covered approximately 64 square km with a 100-m line spacing.

The purpose of the survey was to provide geophysical information for mineral exploration activities. The data were collected by Geological survey of Norway (NGU) personnel and processed at NGU.
(Forkortet) Important rutile deposits in Norway are two of main types: eclogite rutile deposits in Western Norway and metasomatic rutile deposits in the Bamble province of southernmost Norway. Eclogite deposits formed by the metamorphic tranformation of Proterozoic mafic rocks during Caledonian high-pressure metamorphism at 400 Ma. Rutile-bearing eclogites are found in various geologicl sub-provinces from the Bergen region in the south to the Kristiansund region in the north.
Det er gjort en vurdering av mulighetene for utnyttelse av mineralske ressurser i Beiarn kommune. Beiarn kommune er rik på sjeldne mineraler hvorav informasjon om noen av forekomstene kan trekkes fram innenfor turisme. Kommunene har mange typer stein som kan brukes for framstilling av husflidsprodukter. "Hammernes grønn" er det mest spesielle råstoffet for Beiarn, men det finnes en rekke andre typer stein som kan brukes.
Gravity measurements have been carried out along 10 profiles in the region in between Naustdal and Engebø. The objective of the measurements was to detect new heavy bodies of eclogite and to map the extension to the depth of the known eclogite at Bygdahaugen. To confirm the ability of the gravity method, two profiles were measured across the known eclogite deposit in Naustdal. The size (depth) of this deposit should be estimated.
