The mapping service presents selected thematic views of the key content in NGU's national bedrock database.
It consists of bedrock maps at national (1:1,350,000), regional (1:250,000), and local (1:50,000) scales and primarily includes polygon layers, line layers, and point layers. The polygon layers show the extent of bedrock in terms of major rock types and rock units, as well as coverage maps, manuscript maps, and loose sediment coverage. The line layers represent boundaries between different rock units, rock lines such as dikes and thin sedimentary/volcanic layers, and linear structures such as faults and shear zones. Structure measurement points are point layers classified by line structures like lineations and fold axes, and planar structures such as foliation and layering.
The mapping service contains over 100 map layers, which are grouped by scale and geometry type. A composite, zoom-dependent standard view of major rock types is also included
