Marine Geology

The Marine Geology section at NGU conducts mapping and research of the Norwegian coastal and ocean areas in pursuit the national goal of securing access to clean and abundant water, and help to ensure the proper management of marine and geological resources. Our aim is to provide full access to all information on the ocean floor through the online marine geology database. We work in collaboration with researchers and institutions, both nationally and internationally, in projects funded fully or partly by research councils, industry, the European Union and other sources. The MAREANO-program receives an yearly allocation earmarked for mapping the marine area around the Lofoten Islands and in the Barents Sea.
