MINN - NGUs program for kartlegging av mineralressurser i Nord-Norge startet i januar 2011 etter at NGU fikk en ekstrabevilgning på 25 mill. NOK for 2011 over Statsbudsjettet, og med Iøfte om tilsvarende årlig beløp ut 2014. Sluttrapportering og publisering av resultatene forventes å fortsette også i 2015.

This report describes and documents the acquisition, processing and visualization of recorded datasets. The geophysical survey results reported herein are 2084 line km, covering an area of 416 km2.
Prosjektet inngår i Framsenterets miljøgift flaggskip program under tema human helse. Øst-Finnmark har flere utfordringer: Utslipp av metallene nikkel og kobber samt svoveldioksid fra smelteverket i Nikel og malmoppredningen i Zapoljarnyj nær den norske grensen, med økte nivåer i jord også i de norske tilgrensende områder som resultat. Nivåene for tungmetaller, PAH og dioksiner i Sør-Varanger sammenlignes med nivåene for de samme stoffene i bakgrunnsområdene Karasjok og Kautokeino.
Recently, NGU carried out a low-density soil sampling project on the Nordkinn Peninsula, Finnmark, Northern Norway, that outlined regional-scale anomalies for the REE Peninsula (Reimann et al., 2012). The present report is a follow-up study to the soil sampling project and the present study has involved the mineralogical and compositional characterisation of the metasedimentary bedrock with focus on the economic potential in the rare earth elements (REE) of the area.

The geophysical survey results reported herein are 5526 line km. The Geotech Ltd. Hummingbird frequency domain system supplemented by optically pumped ceasium magnetometer and 1024 channels RSX-5 spectrometer was used for data acquisition.
