All available information on the most important metal- and diamond deposits in the Arctic has been assembled in a book (accompanied by a map) and in a database.
NGU conducted an airborne magnetic and radiometric survey in the Nissedal area in July 2011 on behalf of the Region Geologist in Buskerud, Telemark and Vestfold; Sven Dahlgren. This report describes and documents the acquisition, processing and visualization of recorded atasets.
A geochemical surface water survey, focused on 2nd and 3rd order streams, was carried out in the Oppdal/Berkåk area. Stream water was collected at about 160 sample sites, covering a 1500 km2 survey area. The main aim was to test wether today's ICP-MS analyses are sensitive enough to use surface water for gold exploration. A number of methodological tests (acidification with two different acids, filtration and acidification in the evening in the hotel) was carried out in addition.
Joints and fractures were weathered during a sub-tropical climate regime and thus may contain smectite and kaolinite. The presence of such minerals prohibits groundwater flow in fracture and fault zones. The clay-bearing zones may cause mechanical problems during both tunnel construction and later operation. Due to the chemical alteration of magnetic minerals during weathering, weak zones are characterized by negative magnetic anomalies.

På oppdrag fra Bergmesteren Raudsand as har NGU utført magnetiske, elektromagnetiske og radiometriske målinger fra helikopter vest for Raudsand i et område hvor det kan være aktuelt å etablere nasjonalt deponi for uorganisk farlig avfall i fjellhaller.
Denne rapporten dokumenterer en ny metode i Norge for å modellere og visualisere mineralforekomster, og bruker Bordvedåga Be-forekomsten ved Høgtuva som et av de første eksemplene. Metoden går ut på å lage en detaljert terrengmodell, med tilhørende rektifiserte bilder, og å integrere høydemodellen med underjords-geologiske data for å skape en helhetlig geologisk-terreng modell. I utgangspunktet lages terrengmodellen med fotogrammetri fra bilder tatt fra drone med GPS.

In October 2015, the NGU conducted Georadar measurements in two locations: at Kistefoss – Kleggerud just south of Jevnaker in Jevnaker municipality and north of Roa in Lunner municipality, Oppland county. The survey is funded by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens vegvesen) and its purpose is to test the method's efficiency in supplementing the construction of new roads.

På nordøstlige Andøya på en ca. 6 km bred strandflate mellom Ramså og Skarstein ligger sedimenter av mesozoisk alder som de eneste bergarter av denne alder i Norge. Feltet er ca 8.4 km langt og består av bergarter fra nedre kritt og midtre/øvre jura. I NGU-prosjektet RABIS: An intergrated study of the Ramså basin on Andøya, northern Norway, er det boret 4 hull i den sørlige delen av feltet.
The collection and free dissemination of knowledge is valuable to society. Open-access data and geological maps are assets that can be used over and over again.

Norges geologiske undersøkelse (NGU) har laget oppgaver for Geofag (X) 1 og 2 for Tiller videregående skole i Trondheim kommune, Sør-Trøndelag. Oppgavene er tilrettelagt for Tillerområdet, men de kan også tilrettelegges for andre områder i Norge. NGU har etablert et samarbeid med Tiller videregående skole gjennom "Geonettverket for Geofag i Midt-Norge", som er i regi av Skolelaboratoriet ved NTNU.

Rev. ed. 2016 This technical report describes the method used to draw the susceptibility maps for snow avalanches in Norway. In order to cover the entire territory of Norway, a fully-automatic GIS-based solution was developed and applied. The gridded digital elevation model of Norway at 25 meter cell size is the only input dataset. The potential release areas are detected applying a slope angle threshold.
In late April 2016 NGU was contracted by ROFI concerning a problem with abrasion of tents and equipment in Eritrea. A sample of sand collected on site in Eritrea was susequently submitted to NGU for characterization.
The Geological Survey of Norway has compiled an inventory of hard rock aggregate deposits in coastal Norway. This report contains a catalogue of Norwegian coastal quarries presently in production and exporting, as well as of potential production areas along the coast of South-Central Norway and Finnmark. In 2015, 22.7 million tonnes of aggregates were exported to Europe, and about 4 million tonnes were used by the offshore oil and gas industry on the continental shelf.

Åtte samarbeidende institusjoner har gjennomgått status og utfordringer for det norkse hydrogeologifaget under prosjektet "Hydrogeologisk forskning og undervisning 2015-2020". Det har vært delfinansiert av Forskningsrådet som oppfølging av evalueringen av norsk geofaglig forskning fra 2011.
The purpose of this report is to present the available data regarding the graphitic schists in the Gjerstad-Kragerø area and to make the data available for explorers and municipal land use planners. The graphite schists that occur southeast of Lake Vegard in the Gjerstad, Kragerø and Tvedestrand area have an average content of graphitic carbon of 2.77 %. Rocks from the abandoned Bjørnås mine have contents up to 33 %.
The aim of this report is to give a brief summary of Norway's mineral resources potential, of trends of the world markets for the relevant commodities and, on this basis, to point to development possibillities and to threats to supply chains which are important for Norwegian industry. The criticality analysis made by the European Union (DG Enterprise, now DG Growth) in 2014 is taken as a starting pont.

Refraksjonsseismiske data samlet inn som en del av forundersøkelsene for den 3,8 km lange Knappetunnelen ved Ringveg vest i Bergen, er tolket med tomografisk inversjon hvor en benyttet programmet RayfractTM. Samtidig er resistivitetsdata samlet inn av NGU også som en del av forundersøkelsene, reprosessert med ny versjon av programmet Res2DInv.

This report presents geophysical interpretation of gravity data as part of a project whose main objective is to supplement the mapping of Quaternary geology at Stryn. This is achieved through the extraction of depth to bedrock information with the use of gravity data which in turn yields soil thickness and bedrock morphology maps.
PAST Gateways (Palaeo-Arctic Spatial and Temporal Gateways) is an IASC endorsed network research programme, the scientific goal of which is to understand Arctic environmental change during the period preceding instrumental records and across decadal to millennial timescales.
