Unstable rock slopes in Troms

The unstable rock slope at Nordnesfjellet, above the E6 highway and the fjord in Lyngen, in Troms, is continuously monitored.
The project "Risk and Vulnerability Assessment for rock avalanches in Troms" has the goal of systematically mapping all unstable rock slopes in Troms County.

Unstable rock slopes and their potential runout areas will be mapped and possible tsunami and other secondary effects will be estimated. Where it is deemed necessary, unstable rock slopes will be periodically monitored for movement.

For each unstable rock slope, a consequence analysis will be performed. All unstable rock slopes will eventually be evaluated using the standardized hazard and risk classification system (NGU report 2012.029), with the results published online in the database of unstable rock slopes.
