Some of the world's largest ore and mineral deposits may be located in the Arctic, and currently there is extensive exploration activity in this area.

At the same time, there is a growing interest in deep sea mineral deposits. Currently, there is considerable political and economic interest in this area, due to, amongst other things, the improvement in the accessibility to this area as a result of the melting Arctic sea ice.

The project aims to collect standardized knowledge about the most important deposits and the dissemination of this information in a customized form for many user groups.
