A deeply weathered hillside on the island of Hadeseløya in Vesterålen, Norway.
"Basement fracturing and weathering on- and offshore Norway - Genesis, age, and landscape development" (BASE).

Researchers from four teams at NGU have joined together to conduct a study on the basement fracturing and weathering in Norway.

The aim of the new project is to study the genesis, age and landscape development of fractured and weathered basement on- and offshore Norway.  The project is funded by four oil companies (Lundin Petroleum, the Norwegian Oil Company, Maersk Oil, and Wintershall) for 43 million Nkr over four years.
