LGM Ice Sheet Modelling

Participants: Eiliv Larsen og Hans Petter Sejrup

The project aims at performing a series of model sensitivity experiments where different ice-sheet configuration details are utilised within a fine mesh model forced with, for example, 21 ka conditions from GCM experiments already run. This will allow us to explore the sensitivity of the regional climate (and ice mass balance) to different regional ice-sheet configurations. The importance of ice streams developing along the western margin of the ice sheet (i.e the Norwegian Channel Ice Stream, The Bear Island Trough Ice Stream) to ice-sheet dynamics and mass balance is crucial. This will be tested against climatic parameters to better understand their establishment and disintegration.
