The Quaternary geology and climate group consists of specialists in Quaternary Geology, Geomorphology, Sedimentology and Marine Geology. Our research focus on surface processes, landscape development, sedimentary archives of climate change and natural climate development.

Our group works mainly in northern Europe and Russia, including Svalbard and Greenland. The group's expertise lies within:

  • Landscape forming processes in changing climates, and development
of models of glacial and non-glacial landscapes,
  • Reconstruction of past climate variations on centennial to millennial timescale
  • Understanding of sediment source-to-sink processes in time and space
  • Reconstruction of major glaciations in and their impact on petroleum systems
  • Development and communication of geological knowledge to the public
