The whole of Norway (with the largest continental shelf in Europe) was covered with aeromagnetic surveys from 1959 to 1976. Aeromagnetic data collected prior to 1976 are available in the form of a matrix digitised from manually drawn contour maps. Data after 1972 were also recorded digitally. (An aeromagnetic remapping programme was launced by NGU in 1989.) NGU and Kartverket (Norwegian Mapping Authority) also provide national gravity data while NGU and Sintef Petroleum offer heat flow and petrophysical data (density and magnetic properties).
