The group’s main responsibility towards the Norwegian society is the mapping of the Quaternary deposits of Norway and, by cooperating with the other groups at the NGU, the development of innovative and modern mapping techniques and standards as well as the archiving and dissemination of Quaternary geological data through the National Quaternary deposit database (NLD).
Members of the group are also involved in many nationally- and internationally funded research projects which cover topics like: Quaternary and modern landscape processes, sedimentology, geomorphology, stratigraphy and glacial processes on the mainland of Norway and Svalbard.
