NGU conducts landslide research and manages data and knowledge about landslides and landslide risks which can be used in public and private land use planning. In addition, this data and knowledge are important for landslide prevention and emergency preparedness.
NGU plays a central role in the implementation of landslide maps produced in connection with the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE).
Moreover, NGU is responsible for the national landslide database, which is available through the web portal Skrednett.no
Joint research in the landslides and landslide processes with partners such as the International Center for Geohazards (ICG) is important for the development of new mapping methods and application of new technology.
