NGU started acquiring aeromagnetic data south of Jan Mayen (JAS-11)

The JAS-11 survey represents the missing piece in the Norway Basin puzzle and will enable us to map the complete drifting history of the JMMC.

NGU is acquiring new high-resolution aeromagnetic survey in the Vestfjorden and Lofoten-Vesterålen area (LOVAS-11) 

After the successful completion of the aeromagnetic remapping in the southern Norwegian Barents Sea, NGU is acquiring this season new aeromagnetic data in  the Vestfjorden with denser line spacing and does a remapping of the Lofoten-Vesterålen archipelago with state-of-the-art aeromagnetic data.

NGU acquired new high-resolution aeromagnetic data in the Norwegian North Sea and onshore western Norway 

The North Sea Coop 2010 project (Crustal Onshore-Offshore Project 2010) covers an approx. 120.000 km² large area in the central Norwegian North Sea (CNAS-10) and coastal areas onshore Norway (BESTAS-10). The offshore area CNAS-10 is c. 65,000 km² large and was flown with 1000 m profile distance and low altitude of 100 m. The data are of excellent quality and will be compiled with excisting surrounding survey to a comprehensive onshore-offshore magentic dataset for the Norwegian North Sea region. The data interpretation is ongoing.

The new surveys constitute a part of an aeromagnetic remapping program of the Norwegian continental shelf and coastal areas.
