Hovedinteressen er sedimentologi og sedimentære prosesser i norske kyst og havområder, blant annet i MAREANO-programmet (www. mareano. no). Jeg har arbeidet med bunntypekartlegging og avsetningsprosesser i forbindelse med planlegging av rørledninger og installasjoner på havbunnen, miljøgeologiske undersøkelser, ressurskartlegging, undersjøiske tunneler og undersjøiske skred. Jeg har også bred erfaring innen strukturgeologi og kartlegging av sedimentbassenger av kritt til devon alder i kystsonen og på sokkelen, og kartlegging av sedimentære bergarter av devon til ordovisisk alder på land. Denne kompetansen er blant annet benyttet i prosjekter med formål å kartlegge grunn gass og lagringspotensial for CO2 på kontinentalsokkelen. Prosjektene er utført i samarbeid med forskere og institusjoner nasjonalt og internasjonalt, med finansiering fra EU, industri og andre kilder.
