Research interests:

Research interests focus on structural geology and on the relations between tectonics, denudation, geomorphology and basin sedimentation. Research themes include:

  • Deep structure of passive margins
  • Tectonic controls on sedimentation in extensional basins
  • `Source-to sink´-issues on continental margins
  • Tectonic controls on topography and landscape evolution during Cenozoic uplift of the Norwegian margin.
  • Structural and tectonic controls on rock-slope failure
  • Fault architecture, fault rock-assemblages and the role of fault re-activation in Mesozoic rifting and Cenozoic uplift
  • Structural and regional geology related to late – and post-orogenic extension of the Scandinavian Caledonides

Research tools

  • Field-based structural geology
  • Field-based sedimentology
  • Interpretation of regional deep seismic reflection data
  • Integration of geochronology, geomorphology, satellite interferometry and structural geology to assess structural controls on landscape evolution
